You can take a good relief if this thing happens for real because there is a small application that can reverse the mistake.

Don't get excited too soon. UndeleteSMS, a small application that is responsible to resurrect the missing SMS (texts), is actually a new jailbreak tweak. So you can't find this application through App Store. UndeleteSMS just made its debut several hours ago in Cydia.

Basically, UndeleteSMS will go through the Spotlight history and your SMS database to find the deleted data before get them recovered. The successfully recovered messages will be shown in plain text format, so you can save them in a note or even forward to your email.

It's worth to note that not all data are guaranteed can be saved. The deleted data will be saved on the device itself. As long as there is no new deleted data come in, it will stay. When there is new deleted data come in, the old ones will get deleted for good from the device, thus unrecoverable.

The next generation of the iPad and iPhone are said to sport a new replacement for Apple’s A4 chip with a dual-core graphics processing unit that will definitely allow higher resolutions on both iPad 2 and iPhone 5 and support for HD video playback (1080p).

The rumored chip in question is said to be a dual-core SGX543 GPU from Imagination Technologies that will most likely be coupled with a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU. With both technologies work hand in hand it will turn iPad 2 into a powerhouse that's more than capable of playing HD video. This rumor is consistent with another rumor that claims the iPad 2 will have a much higher resolution screen than its predecessor.

As the iOS 4.3’s code has revealed two possible new models of the iPhone, presumably the next generation iPhone 5, the upcoming device will be using a Qualcomm baseband and an IC substrate from Kinsus that does triple duty as the CDMA / GSM / UMTS baseband processor . According to Digitimes, Kinsus Interconnect Technology could break into the supply chain of Apple's iPhone 5 as the new smartphone will adopt Qualcomm's baseband chipsets, accounting up to 30% to 40% of the iPhone 5 orders.

Engadget also reports that the upcoming iPhone 5 will be completely different, a totally redesigned smartphone. It will also feature the latest Apple’s processor, A5. As of now, the iPhone 5 is still on track for a summer launch and is currently being rigorously tested by senior staffs at Apple.

We also heard that Apple is working on the next generation of Apple TV, which incorporate the speedy A5 chip from the iPhone 5 which is powerful enough to bring 1080p video to Apple’s TV.

1. Download the required certificate file ICE2-06.15.00.cert from here.

2. Install Fuzzyband from Cydia and start this app.

3. Connect iPhone 3G to you computer through USB cable.

4. Initiate i-FunBox. Click on File, then browse to Applications/Fuzzyband.app. right-click and then select Copy from PC.

5. Select the ICE2-06.15.00.cert file you downloaded in step 1. Copy it to the following location:Applications/Fuzzyband.app.

6. Disconnect your iPhone from your computer and start Fuzzyband app (refer step 2) on your iPhone 3G.

7. In Fuzzyband application, you should see your current version of Baseband, (should be 06.15.00 still) and you have the option to downgrade it to version 05.13.xx.

Once the downgrade process is completed, Go to Settings –> About and check whether your 05.13.xx baseband is already there. You are done - so no more error when you want to update or restore any firmware.

So what you need in order to OpenSSH your iPhone?

1. Jailbroken iDevice (i.e jailbroken iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad)
2. OpenSSH (your device)
3. Winscp (your PC)

Below are instructions on how to OpenSSH your iPhones, iPod touch and iPads over a wireless internet.

1. Search for "OpenSSH" via Cydia and get it installed. Note: Because this is a background system, there is no icon for OpenSSH in your iDevice.

2. Download Winscp and install it in your PC.
3. In order to access your iPhone, you need to find the iPhone’s IP address which can be found by going into your Settings application on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and then into the Wi-fi option. Click on the little arrow next to the Wi-Fi you are connected to and find the IP address. See picture below as reference.

4. Key in the username and password fields. The username is root and password is alpine. By default, your file protocol is set to SFTP. You need to change it to SCP. You don't need further info in order to access your iPhone files system.

5. It will take several attempts before you can connect to your iPhone.

Recently a friend of mine asked me how to fix the losing signal after he mistakenly updated the firmware to 3.1.3 on his locked iPhone 3G. I thought there should be an easy fix giving the fact that there are a lot tutorials on how to jailbreak and unlock iPhone. Turned out it's not that simple.

Before you run into any problem that can make your head spinning, there are few things you should know about in order to avoid them from hitting you hard. There are few terminologies that might be confusing for someone new to this device. Knowing what these jargons are all about is a good move to better prepare yourself as a new iPhone owner. So let's get going.

Officially Unlocked iPhone VS Locked iPhone

Locked iPhone limits the device exclusively to a particular cellphone network. Any attempts to insert simcard of other network will effectively be rejected and you will not be able to use your iPhone to its full capacity. This can be fixed by using hardware or software unlocking but it comes with risks. You may not be able to update the OS software to the latest version or worst of all device malfunction.

Officially unlocked iPhone, on the other hand, allows user to freely use any network carriers and enjoy every single update from the iPhone’s OS without losing the ability to use any carrier SIM in the device.

If you haven't bought one for yourself, the ONLY type of iPhone that you should consider buying is an officially unlocked iPhone unless you don't mind having a lot of headaches with the unlocking process.

I hardly give attention to anything related to how-to-jailbreak-or-unlock-iPhone because I bought unlocked iPhone set from Maxis Malaysia (iPhone 3GS) and Singapore set (my previous iPhone 3G).

Jailbreak - Technically, it means to break into and gain access to the entire Unix file system (to change the root of the directory tree to /). Simply put, it's a restricted area where normal users are not supposed to mess around. By jailbreaking, you can add applications restricted by Apple into your phone. You can even change (mod) icons, dock, wallpaper, chat bubbles, status bar, keyboard etc. The addition of these applications are done via an application called Cydia.

Granted, jailbreaking can unlock your iPhone to another level of excitement (with new applications and modding stuffs) but apparently it doesn't appeal me to indulge into jailbreaking my iPhone (at least for now).


Unlock - Unlike units from the list above (fully unlocked), iPhone from the United States and the UK are locked by AT&T and by O2 respectively. So you can't simply use the phone with other operators. There are several solutions such as turbosim, stealthsim, Sn0wbreeze etc out there to unlock your phone so that you can freely use your iPhone with any operator you like.

Note: Please read carefully the pros/cons as well as instruction on each solution (by googling) when you attempt to use any method of unlocking. There are several adverse effects that might be experienced by your iPhone such as signal fluctuation when making call, no Airplane Mode etc. Some solutions might not be working anymore that Proceed with caution.

Sounds scary? Sure it does. That's why it's important to give extra care when you do the above-mentioned activities. Do more readings on the net so you will know what to expect if an unlocking method is applied. It also helps you from being ripped off by certain parties that might want to take advantage on your lack of knowledge.

Disclaimer: Jailbreaking voids your warranty but it can be easily fixed by restoring the iPhone OS via iTunes.
