Pixlr is an excellent free online photo editor that can be used to remove watermark from pictures. Ok, before you got the wrong idea about this web application, let me clear out the air first. Pixlr is not an online photo editor that is meant to specifically removed watermark from images. The truth is it is a powerful photo editor that has features in its arsenal similar to full fledged photo editor such Adobe Photoshop.

Key Features of Pixlr

Easy to use and user-friendly

Support multiple languages

Removes watermarks easily with stamp tool

No installation or registration required

Pixlr: Online Photo Editor

If you take a closer look at the tools on the left side pane, it resembles a lot with Adobe Photoshop desktop application. It has basic tools such as drawing tool, clone stamp, sponge tool, color replace tool, gradient tool, dodge tool, smudge tool and many more. One feature that is essential in removing watermark is the clone stamp tool. We will primarily be using this tool throughout this article in order to show you how to remove watermark on an image.

How Watermark removing works?

Removing a watermark is not as easy as you think. It takes time and it will depend on the image your are editing. That's said, 1 one rule of thumb to get a clean watermark removal is by getting as close replacement as possible for the watermark you intend to remove. In order to achieve this you will be using a tool named clone stamp. I'll demonstrate a simple example on how to remove watermark from a picture.

Clone stamp tool

How To Use Pixlr To Remove Watermark

1. Open Pixlr Online photo editor on your browser.

Open image with watermark in Pixlr

2. Click on the "File > Open image" from the menu at the top and browse through the folder directory where the image with a watermark resides. Double click on the image. In this demonstration I'm going to use the following picture.

Picture with watermark - demo purpose

3. Click "clone stamp tool" from tools window. A circular icon will appear on the screen.

Clone stamp tool

4. Click [CTRL] button define the source point. Basically this is the point that we are going to use to overwrite the watermark section. When you have define the source point, the pointer will change to a crosshair (see picture below).

Click (CTRL) button to define source point

5. Now, while you still clicking on the watermark section, hover your mouse over the watermark and see the magic works.

Watermark gradually replaced with the source point

6. Here's the final result (partially done). You just need to go ahead and finish everything.

Final result (partially done)

As a web designer, I always make a habit of visiting websites that have professional look to gain idea and inspiration. I'm currently developing an e-commerce site for my custom-made products and obviously I visit on several similar e-commerce sites. When it comes to web design, there are several aspects of web design that contribute towards the definition of clean and professional web design.

Typography is one of many design elements that looks trivial but can make a huge difference when it is put together with the right color scheme and other design elements. I always have great passion of what fonts used on certain websites but it's actually hard to actually identify precisely what font used in a particular website.

One way I use to identify font used in a website is by inspecting the CSS file of the website. This is quite tedious work and it doesn't usually give me the result. That is possible if you have knowledge about CSS. You may use a plugin such as Fire Bug, but still it's a complicated one.

A better way of identifying font type used in WhatFont Tool. WhatFont Tool is a simple bookmarklet which make font identification dead easy.

How to use WhatFont Tool?

What you need to do is only drag and drop the bookmarklet onto your browser bookmarks bar and walla! the font type is identified :)

How to use WhatFont Tool

WhatFont Tool not only tells you the font-family but also the CSS property associated to the text. After finishing your job, you can exit the WhatFont mode from your browser.

The bookmarklet has full support for Internet Explorer 9, Firefox, Safari and Chrome. It's also available as a plugin in Google Chrome browser. If you are interested in knowing what type of font used on a webpage you will find WhatFont Tool as handy especially if you a web developer.

Stumble upon an inspiring logo but clueless about font being used on the beautifully crafted logo? Or perhaps you might wonder what font is being used on Google logo? To recognize precisely what fonts being used on an image is almost impossible as there are enormous number of fonts in existence and they keep counting.

WhatTheFont provides the solution towards this problem. All you need to do is upload an image file to its server where the image will be scanned and matched with its database. The maximum size for an image is 360 x 275 pixels, so make sure to resize it before uploading. It doesn't have to be a high quality image (although that will definitely help). If you want to get more information and tips about this service, visit its usage notes.

But hey, what if WTF can't find you the closest match of your font? Head straight on to the WhatTheFont forum to get more assistance.
